Outdoorsy Cancellation Policies: A Rundown

Outdoorsy offers three standardized cancellation policies:

  1. Flexible
  2. Moderate
  3. Strict

Each policy is designed to protect both hosts and renters. Let’s break them down.


Flexible

  • Cancel more than 30 days before departure: 100% refund
  • Cancel 30 days or less before departure: 50% refund

Best for: Hosts who want to attract more bookings with guest-friendly terms.


Moderate

  • Cancel more than 30 days before departure: 100% refund
  • Cancel 8-30 days before departure: 50% refund
  • Cancel 7 days or less before departure: No refund

Best for: Hosts seeking balanced protection with tiered terms as trips approach.


Strict

  • Cancel more than 30 days before departure: 100% refund
  • Cancel 30 days or less before departure: No refund

Best for: Hosts who need maximum protection and predictable income.


Key Details

  • Payment: 50% deposit at booking, remaining 50% due 30 days before departure.
  • Full Refund Grace period: 24 hours for trips starting in 7+ days, 1 hour for trips starting sooner
  • Refunds apply to rental amount only – add-ons are always refundable, service fees are never refundable
  • Effective February 2, 2026 for all new bookings. Bookings created before 2/2/26 are subject to the original policy terms at the time of booking (viewable on your trip details page).

Renters must agree to the host’s cancellation policy before booking.
