Joshua Tree Trip Saved!!My husband and I planned a trip to Joshua tree in November, but due to park closures because of Covid, we had to reschedule a couple of times. We eventually did our 2-night/3-day trip in February. We have never been to Joshua tree and planned on camping out. A few days before the trip, we realized it was supposed to be in the 30s. We are fairly new campers and were quite ill-equipped so we decided to look at renting a van.We came across this Sprinter van and it was perfect!! It was the perfect space for 2 people and a 60lb dog. We stayed at Jumbo Rocks campground, and the closest water station is over 10 miles away so we made sure we brought a few gallons of water. It was nice that the van also held an additional 6 gallons in the sink/shower area. It was great for rinsing dishes, brushing teething, and washing up. I also didn't plan on using the toilet since we had toilet access, but it was so nice to have one. When you wake up and it's 30 degrees out the last thing you want to do is run across the campground to the toilet at 1 AM... I was impressed that the van had everything and more. Forget your wine opener (we did). No problem - it's in the van! The portable stovetop was great when we didn't feel like building a fire for lunch. We were also surprised how many people stopped us to ask about the van. We had 7 neighbors ask and about 5 others during hikes/gas station/etc. I guess Sprinter vans have a cult following because everyone waved at us whenever we drove by another Sprinter. We pretty much felt like celebs as we were glamping around. Also, the heat works really well in the van so while we were shivering the first night (because we are idiots and left all the vents and windows open) we were living the high life the second night while our poor neighbors froze outside. However, I think my favorite part was waking up in the morning and seeing the amazing views through the large windows. Also, don't forget to ask the hostess about cinnamon buns over the open fire - I had never tried and it was totally worth it!
