I arrived to pickup the trailer as agreed with the host. The host showed up shortly after in a small sedan with no trailer hookup capability. The trailer had no electrical power. As we did the walk through with the host, he pointed out that the awning was inoperable as it was broken by the previous renter and the griddle shown in the pictures was missing. We attempted for 45 minutes to hook up the trailer to my tow vehicle but the trailer did not have any power meaning that the lights, turn signals, and brakes were not working. Since the host did not have a vehicle that was capable of towing and to allow us to troubleshoot, at the host's request I took my vehicle to Palm Beach Rv, a local RV dealer, to have my tow vehicle inspected. As soon as the technician hooked up his equipment, it showed that my tow vehicle was delivering power to the trailer hookup including all lights, turn signals, and brakes. The problem was with the host's trailer. A hookup that should have taken 15 minutes turned into a 2.5 hr ordeal.I contacted the host and informed him that the trailer was indeed the problem. he informed me that he would try and have it fixed but was unable to provide a timeframe. The host was also unwilling to meet back at the trailer again to attempt to hook it up to his other vehicle and replicate the problem and demonstrate that his trailer was indeed working. I informed him that I had a campground reservation and would not be willing to tow an unsafe trailer with no lights or brakes. We MUTUALLY agreed to cancel the trip. For reasons that the host did not communicate at the time, he did not cancel the reservation through Outdoorsy allowing me to recover the full amount of the rental. I am disputing 100% of the charges for the reservation as the host's equipment was malfunctioning and unsafe to tow and I was unable to complete the trip.
