The RV was clean and decently well equipped with linens, cooking utensils, working fridge and freezer. Unfortunately the owner was not available during the pick up and almost no instructions were given. At pickup the check engine light was on and we were told to take it to an auto zone to check on it. We did so and it turned out requiring replacement parts that we ended up having to buy and take to a mechanic to install. This obviously delayed our trip and we haven’t been reimbursed for the parts or the repairs which were paid out of pocket. The owner indicated she will at some point but it’s been over a week since the trip ended and you know we obviously were billed for all the costs up front. The AC in the RV was barely working and unable to cool the cabin and as there was a heat wave in LA, it was pretty unbearable. There was also no tv although it was included in the listing, the microwave essentially doesn’t work with the little power it puts out and we rented the front cab mattress but were not given a pump. Overall the RV is functional (now that we paid to have it repaired) but communication from the host could be better and just don’t expect it to be as new as the models you would get from modern corporate RV rental companies (I’m directly comparing to RVs others in our group rented from companies for the same trip). It can be nice to work with a person rather than a company but there are trade offs with the RV (our trip was delayed due to mechanical issues and no alternative) and older/less practical RV models and equipment.
