Have you ever watched an ambulance scream past you and wondered what it feels like to drive one of those beauties? Here’s your chance! Explore the splendour of the Pacific Northwest from the comfort and safety of this show-stopper retired ambulance. The powerful turbodiesel van comes with everything 2 people and pets would need for a memorable road trip in most weather conditions. Plenty of power from the V8 gets you into and keeps up with highway traffic with ease, while the low-down diesel torque will climb almost any hill or mountain road effortlessly. And it sounds like a semi!! You gotta love the diesel “dock-dock-dock” sound :). Maybe I should have named it “Dock-Dock”…but I digress
The interior of the van came fully insulated in the rugged ambulance box (did I say “safety”?) and converted professionally to include pine wall panels, hardwood floor and sliding wood bedframe built around the original cabinets and shelves. Dimmable LED ceiling lights, diesel heater and vent fan for creature comforts. Still has original VHF radio, air horn, lights and sirens…maybe they still work? Rent Huey to find out! (There’s a hint in the Rules below)
With offshore power and inverter plus 400W solar panels feeding three 12V batteries, you can charge your laptop and power appliances without draining the vehicle battery. Lots of storage space inside and outside. Kitchen with sink and fridge allow you to stay nourished at your own convenience. Still a work in progress, but sufficient for most adventures!
Engine, chassis and drivetrain professionally inspected by Ford dealer in March 2022 and in great shape, has been driven from Kent to SoCal and also Kent to Denver and back. Host is a lifelong mechanic and gearhead—I spoil this truck with maintenance round the clock so you can drive with peace of mind. Was ist inbegriffenFull kitchen with 2-burner propane stove and an electric-powered faucet and sink

Handle with care. This is a 20 year old rig and I've hand built a lot of the amenities. Go slow and smooth. Let me know immediately if you drive over and strike hard objects so I can inspect it promptly for everyone's safety
• No off-roading please (the oil filter is super vulnerable to rocks. Ask me how I know :)
• Return clean inside (dump all your waste)
• Return with fuel level same as at pickup
Have fun!!

We had an incredible time renting Huey! From the very beginning, Tony was super communicative and made the whole process easy and stress-free. This was our first time renting an RV, and he gave us a thorough walk-through, answered all our questions, and made sure we felt confident before we hit the road. Read the RV’ing 101 stuff on the website and watch the video Tony will send you about driving a diesel. They will help with some of those first-time jitters.
Let’s set some expectations… Huey is a 20+ yo retired ambulance and not a brand-new top of the line RV with all the Bells and Whistles. Huey was clean, cozy, and packed with many things we needed but would not have thought of like experienced RV’ers. The bed was larger and more comfortable than I expected. We were Road Tripping to and from Palm Springs. Stopping for sightseeing, hot springs and bike riding along the way. We were not Boondocking so we did not use the stove/fridge/microwave or outdoor shower. There were thoughtful extras too—like camp chairs and mood lighting—that really elevated the experience.
One of the things we loved was Huey’s quirky charm. From the unique layout to the fun little design touches, this RV has so much personality—it definitely doesn’t feel like a cookie-cutter rental. It’s the kind of rig that turns heads and makes the journey feel even more special. We must have had 10 people that wanted to look around and see the inside. The Red Lights must be covered as Huey is no longer an emergency response vehicle, but the Air Horn still works!
Driving Huey was surprisingly easy with the split close/far mirrors and rear-view camera. Slow and Steady will get you there just fine. Check the oil once a day and if you have rear cargo (we brought a bike and bike rack for the 2” tow hitch) check that is secure every time you start a new leg or your journey. Whether you're headed out for a weekend in the woods or a longer road trip, this rig is the perfect setup.
We’re already talking about our next trip and will absolutely be renting Huey again. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a fun, reliable, and memorable RV experience!

This RV is a cute work in progress.
There are some mechanical quirks and reliability issues with the battery/solar panels. Tony was very responsive and helpful when issues did arise.

It was so wonderful hosting you, Jennifer. Thank you so much for your understanding and rolling with it. I now have a 4000 watt generator to help those panels on cloudy days. I hope to see you next summer!

My husband and I rented out Huey for our anniversary and it was the best decision we could have made. Tony is the most helpful and friendly host and truly made our stay in his ambulance-turned-RV the best ever. It's easy to drive, has amazing features, and turns heads wherever you go. Tony was available for any questions we had before and after booking and he made great suggestions on different campgrounds we could stay at. Inside the RV is very nice- kitchenette with appliances and a stovetop and sink, beautiful wood paneling and floors, ambient lighting, a fan and heater, a comfy bed, and a bathroom. We will definitely be renting Huey again and can't recommend it enough!!!
