Helpful, but disputed damage claims
Loren and his team are praised for communicative, thorough orientations, flexibility, and providing upgrades. However, one guest faced a disputed $500 damage claim for refrigerator/wax residue and a non-functional toilet during their rental.
Easy driving, robust off-grid features
The van is easy to drive, handles well on highways, and uses regular gasoline. It features an impressive all-electric system with strong batteries, AC, hot water, induction stove, comfortable bed, shower, and a dry flush toilet (though one was reported non-functional). Minor issues include some cleanliness and screen damage.

5.0We had an excellent experience with every aspect of renting this van. From the owner being extremely responsive, to the van's amenities, and the way it drives, we could not have asked for more. Loren, the owner, was great! We've successfully used Outdoorsy before, but he really raised the bar for what constitutes a top notch experience. He shared a video detailing all of the intricacies of the van's features well in advance of our trip. This made pick up much more fluid than it has been in the past. The amenities in the van include a shower and bathroom which we ended up not using. However, the mattress was extremely comfortable and there were plenty of blankets and pillows. Rhe fridge and hot plate were exactly what we needed. The privacy screens are also extremely effective. As far as driving, the van was great on the highway and at camp. It gets up to speed nicely and handles very well even on sharp turns. The back up camera is well positioned and very clear day and night making parking at a campsite very accessible. It being regular gasoline also saves some money on fuel. Overall, this was a great experience, and I highly recommend this van.

1.0Unfortunately, this was one of the worst rental experiences I’ve had. The van itself looked nice in the listing, but there were significant issues that made the trip much less enjoyable. The biggest problem was that the toilet was not functioning properly during our rental, which was a major inconvenience considering that having a working bathroom is one of the reasons people rent a camper van in the first place. Before returning the van, I spent a considerable amount of time cleaning it inside and out in approximately 110-degree Arizona heat. I even attempted to wax the exterior to return it in great condition. Despite that effort, I was later accused of causing damage that I do not believe I caused. The owner submitted a $500 damage claim alleging issues with the refrigerator and wax residue. From my perspective, the refrigerator had no damage when I returned the vehicle, and I requested photos and documentation supporting the claim. The white residue referenced was simply leftover wax from cleaning the exterior before returning the van. What was especially disappointing was the contrast between the treatment I received and the condition of the vehicle I rented. A nonworking toilet was apparently acceptable for my rental, yet I was met with a substantial damage claim over issues I dispute after making every effort to return the van in good condition. If you’re considering renting this van, I would strongly recommend: * Take detailed, high-resolution photos and videos of every inch of the interior and exterior before leaving. * Repeat the same process immediately before returning it. * Document every appliance and feature to verify that it works. * Keep all communication through the Outdoorsy platform. I wanted this rental to be a positive experience, but instead it ended with a disputed damage claim and a great deal of unnecessary stress. Based on my experience, I would not rent from this owner again, nor would I recommend them to others.

4.0The folks at New LIfe Conversions are great. Philip took the time to give us a wonderful orientation. He kept it short but thorough, making sure we understood how everything in the van worked. In a very short time we were on the road beginning our journey in confidence. The van we had originally rented had some mechanical issues several days before our trip so New Life Conversions bumped up us to their nicest van at no additional cost. While our intent was to test out a smaller van to see how the size would work for us, the larger van was really nice. It drove well, had plenty of power even with the weight of the build out and all our stuff included. Besides food and clothing, we also brought zero gravity chairs, a 2 person inflatable kayak with paddles and life vests, a 10 ft screened in gazebo a 10 x 14 outdoor carpet and other odds and ends. There was room for all of that and more. This van was amazing. It was all electric including 12v refrigerator, 12v AC, fans, lights a large inverter that easily ran induction cook top stove and water heater. The first few days we were in full sun but the last 2 days we were camped under a dense canopy of trees. The battery system never went below 75%. Everything worked great and the electrical systems capacity and performance really surprised me. The van was pretty clean. I say that because the sink had a funky smell to it and the screen on the Maxair fan was pretty dusty. Other than that it was quite nice and my wife and I are pretty picky to the point most folks would never notice or be bothered by this. Since the van is a rental, I'm sure its really hard to keep screens in windows. A couple of the screens were missing and some were starting to come apart. I can't imagine what it must be like trying to maintain a camper van that is constantly being rented out. All in all, things were in pretty nice condition and met our needs real well. If you are considering building out a van and want to see what traveling and living in a small space is like, I highly recommend renting one and giving it a try before you buy. Or if you just want to come to Arizona and rent a van to go up and see Grand Canyon or any of the other spectacular sites in the southwest, I highly recommend seeing the folks at New Life Conversions. Loren and his staff are wonderful people. You won't be disappointed.

5.0This van was perfect! Super comfortable, well equipped, super clean. Pick up and drop off were so flexible and accommodating to our schedule. We’d definitely rent again next time we’re in town

5.0Our first to use van camping and this rental was a great experience - the bed, the design and the van was easy to drive! Support was excellent as we had some questions while on the road. No bug nets, so we brought our own. Storage was excellent and the kitchen had plenty of utensils - fridge was a good size and the microwave was perfect for left overs. We brought our own camp stove for outdoor cooking - they had chairs and table - we brought a floor cover - so patio was a good set up! We would rent it again!
